The dictionary began with Mr. Nabil Mohamed Menasy, may God have mercy on him. He conceived the Arabic Sign Language Dictionary for the Deaf and established, designed, and prepared its website, uploading and organizing its content until it became an online platform bringing together a number of sign language dictionaries and terms.

Mr. Nabil, may God have mercy on him, is credited as:

The originator, founder, and designer of the Arabic Sign Language Dictionary for the Deaf.

Mr. Saleh Busaad Al-Jumai’ah worked alongside Mr. Nabil, may God have mercy on him, during the preparation of the dictionary and the documentation of its signs. He was a key partner in the sign language and visual aspects of the work.

Mr. Saleh filmed and performed descriptive signs and sign language terms, helped prepare the visual material for the dictionaries on the website, and was the principal signer for its dictionaries and published sign language content.

Mr. Saleh currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Amal Association for People with Hearing Disabilities in Al-Ahsa.

He is credited as:

The principal signer and sign language performer, and a contributor to the preparation and documentation of the dictionary’s sign language material.

Recognizing the importance of enriching the dictionary and diversifying its sign language material, a number of sign language interpreters, experts, and specialists contributed by performing and filming some of the signs and terms.

Their contribution is recorded under the title:

Contributors to the performance, documentation, and enrichment of the sign language material.

This recognition honors their effort and expertise, and their contribution to enriching the sign language content and serving those who use the dictionary.

We pray for God’s mercy upon Mr. Nabil Mohamed Menasy, who conceived and founded the dictionary, and honor his dedication and generosity in serving sign language and the Deaf community.

We also extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to Mr. Mohamed Nabil Menasy, the founder’s son, for updating the website, preserving its content and his father’s educational and documentary legacy, and ensuring that this work continues to be available to future generations.

We value his generous initiative to dedicate this work as a waqf, a charitable endowment for the sake of God, in his late father’s name. God willing, the dictionary will remain an ongoing charity and a beneficial legacy for Deaf and hard-of-hearing people, interpreters, and all those interested in sign language.

We ask God to accept this endowment, to count Mr. Nabil’s contributions and his son Mr. Mohamed’s continuing efforts to preserve and develop this legacy among their good deeds, and to reward everyone who has contributed from its founding to the present day.

To preserve the history of this work, documenting individual roles is not intended to diminish anyone’s contribution. Its purpose is to describe each person’s participation clearly and fairly, according to the roles they actually fulfilled at the different stages of the project.

These roles encompassed the idea, foundation, design, and preparation of the website and its content; sign language performance, filming, and visual documentation; and further contributions through enrichment, review, and sign language expertise.

The dictionary remains a testament to the efforts of dedicated men united by a shared purpose: serving sign language and the Deaf community, and making sign language knowledge available to future generations.

We ask God to make this work a source of beneficial knowledge and ongoing charity, and to grant the best reward to everyone who has contributed to it.
